Clitoral hood reduction, also termed clitoral hoodectomy clitoral unhoodingclitoridotomy or partial hoodectomyis a plastic surgery procedure for reducing the size and the area of the clitoral hood prepuce in order to further expose the clitoral glans of the clitoris. It is sometimes done as a form of elective surgery where the therapeutic goals are to improve the sexual functioning of the patient and the aesthetic refinement of the vulva. It is a form of hoodplasty.
In female human anatomythe clitoral hood also called preputium clitoridis and clitoral prepuce is a fold of skin that surrounds and protects the glans of the clitoris ; it also covers the external shaft of the clitoris, develops as part of the labia minora and is homologous with the foreskin equally called prepuce in male genitals. The clitoral hood is formed during the fetal stage by the cellular lamella. The clitoral hood is formed from the same tissues that form the foreskin in human males.
For women and people with vaginasorgasms most commonly come from the clitoris, located above the vaginal opening and urethra 1,2,3. Erogenous zones are areas of the body that elicit a sexual response when stimulated. The clitoris is one of the most sensitive erogenous zones due to its high concentration of nerve endings 4,5.
Clin Surg. Labiaplasty with clitoral unhooding is becoming a more common procedure. The authors discuss the extended clitoral-U suspension, and unhooding technique to address both the labia minora excess and clitoral hooding of the patient.

What is it? Does every person with a vagina have one? Is it supposed to look like that? That flap is your clitoral hood, a fold of skin that surrounds and protects your glans clitoris.
The glans clitoris is covered by a prepuce that normally moves over the glans surface and can be retracted beyond the corona. Clitoral adhesions, ranging from mild to severe, occur when preputial skin adheres to the glans. Physical examination consistent with clitoral adhesions is based on the inability to visualize the entire glans corona.
